Life Goes On...

Last week wasn't really one to remember. I'd got stuck with some really crazy bugs for a while and was looking towards the weekend to get them off my back and get my brain refreshed. That never really happened. I ended up going to the office on Saturday to get a few things done (including fixing the bug, or atleast identifying it) That never happened, as I spent most of the time reading Carl Sagan's Cosmos and playing several rounds of TT.

I got out at about 7 in the evening, after checking my mail for the hundredth time that day and met up with Vivek on Brigade. Personally, I just wanted to get back home and sit back and watch a couple of movies. (still have many more movies left to watch in my collection). Unfortunately Vivek, who wasn't having a great time himself, was determined to drown his agonies in a pitcher of beer. Well then, so be it. We called up Rajiv and decided to meet up at Legends of Rock (which was turning out to be a pretty regular fixture for us these days) Unfortunately after having a sandwich and paying for the auto fare, we realized we had little dough left for the cover charge. Then began the great hunt for an ATM. Finally...after walking around for a Km or so we spotted the first ATM. It was an SBI, and thanks to the strike that one was out of order. Still further we came across another one which simply didn't accept our cards. Finally after retracing our way back and beyond we reached this Indus Bank ATM where Rajiv's card atleast was accepted. Thank God! Vaidya was getting pretty desperate by then and was starting to give way to paroxysms of hysteria.

But then as usual, Legends played out the perfect music to soothe the tired soul. Good ol' rock music. Having restricted myself to coke the last few times, I was interested in trying something different this time around. It was to be a glass of 'Cosmopolitan', a mix of Vodka, red vine, orange juice and something else. Tasted pretty good actually.

The next day met up with the Kutties (SNK and AKA) We decided to salvage some thrill out of the last half day of the weekend by going on this little outing to Banyan Tree, somewhere on the outskirts of Bangalore. The plan, initially, was to stop over for a few rounds of go-karting on the way. But then we started off pretty late and our driver, who was of the strong belief that the highway speed limit was something like 40kmph, didn't make matters any better. Anyway ditch it! We were atleast going to get a spectacular view of the sunset. But wait a sec, the sun was sinking pretty fast. (there was a debate at one point between Kutty and Harith as to whether the angle of elevation was 45 degrees or 22.5 degrees.) And things did look pretty bleak when we were stopped over at a railway crossing (Thanks to dear ol' slowpoke Sam at the wheels) Anyway finally it did look like we would make it, just in time to see the sun setting majestically behind the mountains. But alas, the whole universe (atleast the solar system) was conspiring against us. Just as we got out of the cab and it seemed like there were a few good degrees of elevation left, the sun decided to give us our final 'kela' by hiding behind a patch of clouds. The series of events only served to heighten my respect for one Mr Murphy. Anyway the sight wasn't all that bad after all. After clicking a few snaps and a gulping down a few bottles of beer and breezers we left the place.

Well...not that bad a weekend I guess. And yeah, I managed to finish Cosmos before I finally hit the sack.
